Who: The Fridge on 52nd Street, or “the People’s Fridge,” is a take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-don’t mutual aid resource that assists with food insecurity and helps mitigate food waste in West Philadelphia.
What: Food donations and cash contributions from Tuft staff. Monetary donations matched by Tuft the World.
When: February, 2021
Who: Morris Home, a West Philadelphia residential recovery program serving the transgender community and providing “a safe, recovery-oriented environment in which people are treated with respect and dignity.”
What: Workplace donation drive and cash contributions from Tuft staff and Tuft the World.
When: March, 2021
Who: For over thirty years, Books Through Bars has been sending free books to incarcerated people in six mid-Atlantic states, supporting “self-determination, self-education, and healing behind bars.”
What: Workplace book drive according to Books Through Bars’ current needs.
When: April - May, 2021
Who: Remark Glass, a woman-owned zero-waste certified company that creates new glass products out of waste, and University City Hospitality Coalition, which serves to-go meals to those facing food insecurity.
What: In celebration of Earth Day, staff collected glass and plastic bags for the above organizations, and led a workplace-wide trash pick-up day in the vicinity of our headquarters.
